Where is Wild Trout Outfitters located? How do I get there?
Wild Trout Outfitters fly fishing shop is located a half mile south of Big Sky, Montana, along the Gallatin River. We’re just 41 miles south of Bozeman and 47 miles North of West Yellowstone on Highway 191. We’re 34 miles from Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport at Gallatin Field and 47 miles from the West Yellowstone, MT. Ground transportation is provided from our fly shop.

What sort of guided trips are available?
What kind of fly fishing trips catch your fancy ? Our specialty is custom trips. Do you want to go wading in one of our blue-ribbon trout streams in the cool of the morning or that glow time in the evening. Or is it a long journey on a slow or fast boat that you‘re looking for ? Do I need a Fishing License? Where can I get one?
Montana Fishing License
For a Non-resident 12 and older a 1-day fishing License is the minimum available in Montana. This includes $14.00 for the fishing license (1 calendar day), $10.00 for the conservation license and $7.50 for the ( AIS ) aquatic invasive species PREVENTION PASS. All in your 1-day fishing License will be $31.50. If you want you can add ONE additional calendar day for $14.00 to make a TWO DAY license. $ 73.50 for 5 days, and $117.50 for a season (these prices include the $10 conservation license and and $7.50 aquatic invasive species PREVENTION PASS). They can be purchased easily on line. Visit Montana Fish and Wildlife to obtain a license.
Yellowstone National Park
Fishing licenses are required. Wild Trout Outfitters can help you obtain them. You will need a license from the State of Montana. And, if you’re fishing in Yellowstone National Park, you need one from them as well. For Yellowstone Park Fishing Permit’s Visit https://www.recreation.gov/ Then search Yellowstone Park Fishing Permits. Pick the Three Day @ $40.00 / Seven Day @ $55.00 or the SEASON @ $75.00. This is new pricing starting May 29, 2021.

Where can I stay when I come for my fly fishing trip? Lodging and Rental Housing
Looking to plan a fly fishing vacation to Big Sky, Montana with Wild Trout Outfitters ? There are many options available for lodging while you are here fishing. It depends on if you will be spending any time at your place of lodging or if you just need a place to rest after long days on the river.
I recommend The Wilson Hotel if you are looking for clean comfortable rooms with a excellent bar and restaurant (Less than 3 miles From Our Shop).You can stay at Pete & Jeannine’s luxurious log home located less than 10 minutes drive from Big Sky and Moonlight Basin.
You can take a look at this Beverhead Condo # 1453, it is a nice place to stay while you are in Big Sky. The San Marino Cabin on the Gallatin River is also a option if you have a large group or want something on the Gallatin River. Cancellation policy for Wild Trout Outfitters. Is a deposit required?
Starting January 1, 2018 – At the time of your booking a credit card number will be taken as a deposit in case of cancellation. If cancellation occurs outside of 30 days of your trip, a $200.00 deposit will be charged for each trip/Guide canceled. If cancellation occurs inside 30 days of your trip the full price of your trip will be charged for each trip/Guide Canceled.
What does my trip include?
Trip Package Inclusions: Full-Day Trips include: Guide, Transportation, Delicious Lunch, and Non-Alcoholic Beverage. Half-Day Trips include: Guide, Transportation and Non-Alcoholic Beverage.
Are reservations necessary? Can I just show up?
Reservations are required for Full-Day Jet Boat Trips and are strongly suggested for all other trip options.
