Elk hunting season in North Dakota opens based on the unit during September-December and hunters are restricted to the unit and type of elk designated on their license. “All big game hunters are required to wear a head covering and an outer garment above the waistline of solid daylight fluorescent orange color, totaling at least 400 square inches.
